The Ministry of Health (MOH) has conducted a successful surgery of fixation of the pelvis spine without a surgical incision, using MISS system. The first of its kind operation was performed on a 42-year lady with serious injuries in her pelvis (left and right), she sustained in a traffic accident. Following necessary medical tests she was transferred to the operating room where a fifth lumbar vertebra was fixed with screws and bars without any opening.
Thanks to Allah, the surgery was successful and the patient is expected to leave the hospital within the next few days after recovering.
It is worthmentioning that King Fahad Hospital in Madinah has introduced the fixation of spinal fractures system (MISS) without an opening, for the cases appropriate to this type of fixation.
