A medical team at King Fahad Central Hospital in Jazan, led by Consultant Interventional Radiology and Cardiovascular Catheterization of the Brain Dr. Ahmed Al-Najdi, has succeeded in treating a 50-year old female patient with severe brain hemorrhage using arterial catheterization and stopping the bleeding under X-rays. The 3.5 hours surgery was successful.
Such rare specialty is reckoned complementary to the interventional radiology and blood vessel catheterization in the hospital, which contributes to treating cases without the need for surgical incision. It is also possible to treat strokes and deformities of arteries and vessels in the brain. The hospital administration is keen to provide advanced medical services that contribute to reducing the proportion of cases referred for treatment outside the region.
