MOH: Madinah Blood Bank Provides 33,000 Blood Units, Benefiting 72,000 Patients

The Central Blood Bank of Madinah Health Affairs has collected more than 33,146 donated blood units which have been separated and administered to more than 72,000 patients in Madinah region, according to the Ministry of Health (MOH). Meanwhile, the number of pre-matrimonial tests conducted by the laboratory amounted to 14,664 tests, including genetic blood disorders and hepatitis B and C, as well as the Acquired Deficiency Syndrome.
 
Also, the department of laboratories and blood banks at Madinah Health Affairs has organized 25 donation campaigns at different government sectors, which have positive impact on raising the awareness of the community about the importance of blood donation, the matter which doubled production capacity of the region's blood bank.
 
It is noteworthy that Madinah Central Blood Bank is the main supplier of blood units and blood products to the region hospitals in both public and private sectors, totaling 27 medical facilities.
