MOH: Successful Removal of Rare Tumor at Prince Abdulaziz bin Musa'ed Hospital in Arar

A medical team at Prince Abdulaziz bin Musa'ed in Arar has managed to remove a tumor under the abdomen of a 32-year resident who came to the emergency department with vomiting blood (hematemesis), rectal bleeding and severe body weakness.
 
The Ministry of Health (MOH) said that the patient was hospitalized and an urgent upper gastrointestinal (GI) endoscopy was conducted on him, and after detecting sever duodenal ulcer, a surgical team were called in to examine the patient. Clinical examination, laboratory tests, ultrasound and CT scan proved that the patient has a rare tumor between the duodenal and pancreas, below the stomach. Then the patient was transferred to the operation department to undergo urgent exploratory surgery which detected the presence of a tumor attached to the wall of the small intestine at the point of its contact with the duodenal, causing erosion of the wall and severe bleeding. 
 
It added that the tumor was removed, along with the bleeding part of the intestine which has been reconnected. The patient was transferred to the ICU until his condition stabilized, then moved to hospitalization section to follow up his condition. He was discharged from the hospital in good health, thanks to Allah.
