The Ministry of Health (MOH) stated that the Laboratories and Blood Banks Department at Riyadh Health Affairs General Directorate has prepared a number of 130.044 blood units for hospitals in Riyadh region over the past year (1437H). These blood units included each of concentrated red blood cells, fresh plasma, platelets, and cryoprecipitate (CRYO).
Within the same vein, the MOH pointed out that the number of blood donors amounted to 54.464 over the same year via unceasing campaigns, organized by the department at public areas, by means of the awareness-raising events held at shopping malls. The MOH added that there are 38 blood centers at Riyadh hospitals, receiving blood donors around the year.
