MOH Saves the Life of a 19-Day-Old Infant in Madinah
06 January 2017
Madinah Cardiac Center (MCC), has managed to save the life of a 19-day-old infant, after calling a pediatric cardiology consultant from the center to the Emergency Section in Maternity and Children Hospital (MCH) in Madinah yesterday evening.

Within the framework of the cooperation between the center and the hospitals in Al-Madinah region, a case had been reported from the MCH at 9:00 p.m. of an infant suffering from a congenital heart defect (CHD), namely a reflection extending between both the pulmonary and the aortic arteries; the matter which caused a decrease in the oxygen level to less than 20. The infant had also been suffering from increased acidity in the blood, the matter which might have led to death.

In its emergency response to such case requiring urgent intervention to save the patient life, MCC had promptly sent a pediatric cardiology consultant with his full medical equipment to the hospital in less than 40 minutes. The consultant had performed an urgent cardiac catheterization operation to the infant, which had been crowned with a success after correcting congenital heart defect and restoring the oxygen level from 20 to 80 in record time.

It is worth mentioning that MCC is actively working to serve the residents and visitors of Al-Madinah around the clock, especially in such critical cases requiring an urgent intervention, in addition to the cooperation between health sectors, in such a manner that promotes the professional integrity for the patient benefit.
