In continuation of its intensive preparations for 1437H-Hajj season, the Ministry of Health (MOH), in collaboration with the British Bournemouth University, has organized yesterday, Wednesday, a workshop under the title: “Crisis Management System…Strategic Level”. The workshop tackled the way to plan and develop laws and procedures for crisis management, in the presence of a number of MOH's officials and heads of Hajj committees, and with participation of Saudi specialists and experts from the British university.

It is noteworthy that the MOH has established Risk Assessment Department at the Global Center for Mass Gathering Medicine (GCMGM). This department, in collaboration with the MOH relevant departments, carried out the first strategic assessment of health risks and the assessment of communication system during crisis times at the MOH in collaboration with the World Health Organization (WHO).

Furthermore, the pre-hospital triage system has been evaluated and updated in the event location, in collaboration with experts from Health Department and British National Health Service (NHS). That is to be added to the reinforcement of capabilities and authorities of crisis management at the health region level, as well as highlighting support mechanism and developing a program for building national cadres in crisis management system at all levels, starting from senior officials, decision makers and field service providers.

It is worth mentioning that this workshop targets senior officials and decision makers at the MOH and the Saudi Red Crescent Authority (SRCA); in an endeavor to improve the level of health services provided to pilgrims.
