Under Auspices of Minister of Health: An “Importance of Safety in Health Facilities” Workshop Kicks off in Riyadh

Under the auspices of His Excellency the Minister of Health, Eng. Khalid bin Abdulaziz Al-Falih, a workshop was held this morning in Riyadh under the title: "Importance of Safety in Health Facilities". It was attended by more than 220 engineers and security and safety supervisors from all regions in the Kingdom.
 
The Director-General of Security and Safety at Ministry of Health (MOH), Eng. Anas bin Abdullah Al-Zaid, has pointed out that the workshop will last for two days and comprise lectures by eight speakers from Saudi Central Board for Accreditation of Healthcare Institutions (CBAHI), Civil Defense and US National Fire Protection Association (NFPA).
 
 “The workshop will feature a detailed presentation on the fire that broke out at Jazan General Hospital. The presentation will be supported by images, graphics and surveillance cameras recording. This came upon completing the incident investigation, and the statement of HRH Prince Mohammed bin Nasser bin Abdulaziz, Governor of Jazan Region, and the Minister of Health regarding the results of the investigation last week. Therefore, a case study has been developed on Jazan Hospital fire, to be considered as a lesson not to be forgotten by employees in the health sector and civil defense,” said Al-Zaid.
 
He went on saying that this workshop aims at highlighting safety as top priority in the health domain, promoting safety concepts for the participants, and outlining the next phase of the health facilities restoration.
 
It is worth mentioning that the Civil Defense will participate by two lectures in the workshop; in an endeavor to clarify safety regulation in hospitals and regulation for safety specialists. Besides, CBAHI will present its safety standards for health facilities and its new update in this regard, in addition to a brief lecture delivered by a speaker from NFPA on protection lives in buildings.
 
The workshop is supervised by the Director General of CBAHI, Dr. Salem Al-Wahabi, and the Director General of the MOH Security and Safety, ‎Eng. Anas bin Abdullah Al-Zaid.
