09 January 2016
Under the chairmanship of His Excellency the Minister of Health, Eng. Khalid Bin Abdulaziz Al-Falih, and in the presence of the CEO of “ELM” Company, Dr. Abdul-Rahman Bin Saad Al-Jadhai, the Ministry of Health (MOH) held a meeting with ELM Company last Thursday, in order to launch a strategic alliance upon MOH’s request. This strategic alliance is meant to implement a comprehensive and ambitious program for e-‎health in the Kingdom. This program aims at creating an infrastructure for managing the health system, thus, raising the efficiency and quality of its services. Once the program is completed, the health information can be exchanged electronically, swiftly and effectively; the matter which will enhance the role of informatics in promoting the patient care domain.

Within the same vein, Al-Falih has pointed out that the e-health program, which will be launched under the slogan: “Health-Tech”, is one of the MOH most important strategic programs. It aims at upgrading the MOH services and promoting the performance of quality and efficiency; by means of those encompassed programs and initiatives, which are chiefly based on the development of MOH's e-infrastructure, in addition to linking the health facilities and achieving the unified health file, while maintaining the privacy and confidentiality of health information.‎ The aforementioned program also includes programs of modern hospital management, central administrative systems, picture archiving and communication system (PACS) and establishing health portal for citizens, including relevant smart phone apps, which will provide services in such a modern way, in line with the paradigm shift witnessed by the Kingdom in light of the modern e-services in all sectors. Besides, Al-Falih has expressed his pleasure over holding this alliance with such national advanced companies like “ELM”.

For his part, Al-Jadhai has expressed his pleasure and appreciation to the MOH, which provided this great opportunity for his company to be a strategic partner with MOH in the “Health-Tech” Project. It is an important national project, which will contribute to achieving a significant strategic leap, the matter which will be reflected on the healthy lives of those dealing with the MOH. “The most important features and properties of the proposed technical solutions are to provide high quality services for citizens, while maintaining their privacy. This project is reckoned one of the major projects that we had the great privilege of working on, meanwhile placing a great responsibility upon our shoulders. Hence, we will strive to achieve the MOH’s objectives, Allah Willing,” stated Al-Jadhai.

It is worth mentioning that ELM is a Saudi joint-stock company, which is owned by the Public Investment Fund (PIF) and the pioneer in developing secure e-services and high-profile government support projects, will implement the e-health project through its expertise and competence in developing and providing information technology and e-Services for several public and private sector entities, as well as the third party services.
