Al-Baha Health Directorate Statement on the Death of Five Premature Babies at KFH in Al-Baha
05 December 2015
Page Content
Referring to what has been published about the death of five babies, on two consecutive days, at the Neonatal Intensive Care Unit (NICU) in King Fahd Hospital (KFH), Al-Baha; Al-Baha Health Affairs Directorate has announced that all of these cases were premature babies (i.e. babies born before pregnancy's completion). It added that all these cases were extremely dangerous and had been suffering from numerous diseases, meanwhile, the expected opportunity of their health status to improve was very poor. Besides, all those cases got maximum health care, and there was no relation between the incidence of these deaths except they took place on two consecutive days.
Al-Baha Health Affairs Directorate has set up an ad hoc committee, under the follow-up of His Royal Highness Prince Mishari bin Saud, Governor of Al-Baha. This committee has studied the medical and nursing procedures applied in these cases, and proved that these procedures were all, without exception, in line with the adopted medical norms in dealing with such cases.
It is worth mentioning that Al-Baha Health Affairs Directorate would like to underscore its commitment to providing the best health services for all patients, its ongoing follow-up of health facilities performance and seeking to develop them across the region.
