24 November 2015
His Royal Highness the Governor of Jazan Region, Prince Muhammad bin Nasser bin Abdulaziz, in the presence of His Excellency the Minister of Health, Eng. Khalid bin Abdulaziz Al-Falih, has inaugurated on Tuesday November 24th, 2015 (corresponding to Safar 12th, 1437H), a host of health projects in Jazan Region with a total capacity of 500 beds. These projects comprise Prince Muhammad bin Nasser Hospital (which includes three specialized medical centers for cardiac surgery, ophthalmology surgery and oncology center), Alamal Hospital for Mental Health and Baish General Hospital, in addition to 53 centers for health care disseminated all over the govenorates, cities, villages and hamlets of the region.

Upon his arrival at Prince Muhammad bin Nasser Hospital, the Governor of Jazan Region was received by His Excellency the Minister of Health and a number of senior officials at the Ministry of Health’s (MOH) and Jazan Health Affairs General Directorate, while the royal anthem was being played. After that, the Governor and the Minister paid an inspection tour to the hospital. Then, the opening ceremony started with recitation of the Holy Quran, followed by a speech of His Excellency the Health Minister who said: "It is my pleasure and honor to be with you today for inaugurating a host of important and developed projects in Jazan, in such health sector that matters every family and every citizen. At the top of these projects is a hospital bearing the name of a person who has a special place not only in our hearts but also in the heart of every citizen in Jazan, HRH Prince Muhammad bin Nasser bin Abdulaziz, whom I cease this opportunity to extend my deepest thank and gratitude for sponsoring this ceremony and his continuous support, which boosts the MOH’s efforts."

Al-Falih said that Jazan remains a target for development projects, as this precious region is witnessing a golden era, during which leading industrial, economic and services projects are being launched, bringing wonderful opportunities of development and prosperity to the region, Allah willing, such as the construction of an integrated university, an advanced international airport and a big oil refinery linked to the largest power station of its kind worldwide, in addition to laying bases for integrated industries and the construction of strong and multi-purpose economic city.

"Recently HRH the Governor has sponsored Jazan Economic Forum, with participation of prestigious bodies from all over the world, a matter which bodes well for the region to be transformed to an important resource of the efforts to establish diversity in the national economy which enhances the ambitious march, led by the Custodian of the Two Holy Mosques, King Salman bin Abdulaziz, may Allah protect him" Al-Falih added.

He went on saying that the people of Jazan deserve more than that, as they are known of their determination, hardworking, intelligence and learning love, and before all comes their unswerving loyalty to the homeland.

Al-Falih said, "We in the MOH are well aware of our responsibilities towards this beloved region and its people, and hence comes our duty to provide the requirement for protecting the health of those people and all means of prevention and treatment for them. Though, we have already crossed a long phase in this regard, we are similarly aware that there are other phases ahead of us and we will exert every possible efforts to carry out them, Allah Willing, and our efforts in this regard will not be limited to achieving the inclusiveness of quality of services and making them available in all parts of the Kingdom, however the insistence on their quality will remain a main element that cannot be tolerated, as the aspirations of the Custodian of the Two Holy Mosques, may Allah protect him, in the health field set very ambitious objectives and dictate high standards of performance that necessitates us to work tirelessly. The King’s wise directives and continuous support will not allow any obstacles hindering our success, Allah Willing".

He said that during the MOH’s endeavors to achieve these great aspirations, it is witnessing a paradigm shift in all of its activities throughout the Kingdom, including the health facilities, such as the health projects we inaugurated today, in addition to its attempt to hone the skills of its employees in the medical field, including physicians, nurses and those working at the supportive services, and upgrade their efficiency up to the best levels. This will be achieved through ambitious plans of training and preparation, in partnership with the Ministry of Education (MOE), including the various medical colleges in Jazan University, he added. Besides, he called upon the young men of our country, particularly in Jazan, to play their roles in the service of their country and the health field society and seize all available opportunities for qualifying themselves in the health domain.

"In spite of the fact that the provision of the best level of treatment and medication is reckoned as a main objective that cannot be neglected, the strategic transformation also requires focusing primarily on prevention and maintaining the citizen’s health, and therefore making him not in need of treatment and medicine, Allah willing. In this regard, the MOH has many initiatives, aiming at educating the Saudi society and leading it toward a healthy lifestyle, in terms of their diet and physical activity, as well as warning them about the risks of harmful habits such as smoking," stated Al-Falih.

He expressed his gratitude for all those who supported many of the MOH's initiatives, indicating that he is absolutely convinced that involving in such partnerships is one of the main pillars of success, and even the consecutive successes witnessed in Jazan is nothing but the outcome of joint work. Concluding his speech, he said: "It is my honor to extend my thanks and gratitude to the Custodian of the Two Holy Mosques, His Royal Highness the Crown Prince and His Royal Highness the Deputy Crown Prince, for their unstinting support to the health sector in our country, meanwhile praying for Allah, the Almighty, to protect the leaders of the Kingdom, and to perpetuate for this country its security, safety and prosperity".

At the end, a luncheon was held in honor of HRH Prince Muhammad bin Nasser bin Abdulaziz, HE the Minister of Health, the MOH's senior officials and all guests of the ceremony.
