MOH: Few MERS-CoV Cases Detected at Al-Mane' Hospital, Al-Ahasa
28 October 2015
Within the framework of epidemiological surveillance and constant follow-up of the Middle East Respiratory Syndrome Corona Virus (MERS-CoV), the Ministry of Health (MOH) declared that seven cases were detected at Al-Mane' Hospital in Al-Ahasa. The small outbreak started with a primary case at ER, and then infection took place in two inpatient sections, recording five additional cases as a result of infection at the hospital and one more primary case not related to any of the other cases.  One of the recorded cases was a nurse.

The MOH has promptly taken many precautionary measures applicable in such cases, including referring all cases to King Fahd Hospital (KFH) in Al-Hofouf and suspending admission of all scheduled cases, except for the critical ones, in accordance with infection control and prevention requirements.

Furthermore, a record is made of all people in contact with the patients, whether those at home or health practitioners, as well as those who have been discharged from the hospital since the onset of the first case. And they have been all screened. Besides, all hospitals in Al-Ahsa have been informed with the outbreak to raise their preparedness level.
