21 June 2015

In collaboration with King Fahd Specialist Hospital (KFSH) in Dammam, a specialized medical team at King Fahd Hospital (KFH) in Madinah has successfully conducted a kidney transplant surgery for a citizen in his thirties. The operation has been performed after the recent re-activation of the Kidney Transplant Program at King Fahd Hospital in Madinah.

It is worth mentioning that the patient had visited King Abdulaziz kidney surgery center at KFH, suffering from a chronic renal failure; the condition which necessitated a surgical intervention. Thanks to Allah at first, and then to modern diagnostic techniques and technologies inside the one-day surgery unit, which was inaugurated by His Royal Highness the Governor of Madinah Prince Faisal bin Salman bin Abdulaziz, the patient underwent a successful kidney transplant surgery to put an end to his sufferings, after one of his relatives donated a kidney. The operation lasted for five hours and the donor left the hospital one day after the operation. The patient, meanwhile, is still hospitalized receiving medical care and his health status is stable.

This achievement, performed by Saudi physicians, is preceding a series of kidney transplant operations to be conducted in Madinah during the coming period.
