MOH Organizes a Walking and Running Campaign

The Ministry of Health (MOH), represented by the National Osteoporosis Awareness Program, organized a walking and running campaign at Al-Shabab Club Stadium on Tuesday Jumada II 18th, 1436H, in collaboration with the Saudi Physical Education and Sports for All Federation. The event was held under the auspices of the Assistant Deputy Minister for Primary Healthcare, Dr. Muhammad bin Omar Ahmed Ba-Sulaiman, as well as the President of the Saudi Physical Education and Sports for All Federation, Mr. Salman A. Saedan, the Director-General of Genetic and Chronic Diseases Control, Dr. Muhammad Saidi, and the Director of the North Education Office, Mr. Saleh Al- Tuwaijri.
 

The activities were launched at Al-Shabab Club's racetrack in the presence of hundreds of participants and school students to introduce the concept of walking and running and brief the participants on the importance of such events in strengthening bones and boosting protection from osteoporosis. MOH’s officials participated in the walking and running activities, out of their belief in the importance of sticking to medical tips, particularly physical education. And then, the Assistant Deputy Minister for Primary Healthcare, Dr. Muhammad Ba-Sulaiman granted awards to the eldest racer and others and presented gifts to all participants.

 

On this occasion, the Director of the National Osteoporosis Awareness Program, Dr. Fahad Al Amri, said that the event -thanks to Allah - was great by all accounts and met the willingness of the participants in the physical activity, lauding the participation of the people with special needs as well as the positive response by the community to organize such events in the future. He underlined that physical activity and food rich in calcium and Vitamin D play a significant role in maintaining bones’ strength and safety.

 

Concluding, Dr. Fahad Al Amri extended his thanks to the Assistant Deputy Minister for Primary Healthcare, Dr. Muhammad bin Omar Ahmed Ba-Sulaiman, for sponsoring the activity and to the Supervisor General of the Campaign and the Director-General of Genetic and Chronic Diseases Control, Dr. Muhammad Saidi.
