MOH Finalizes a Polio Vaccination Campaign at Pilgrimage Areas and Southern Regions

The 2nd National Limited Campaign for Polio Vaccination, organized by the Ministry of Health (MOH) at pilgrimage areas and southern regions, has achieved 98.4% of its goal. The campaign, which targeted children at age of 5 years and below, lasted for five days, starting from Jumada al-Awwal 24th, 1436H. The campaign activities included visiting homes and primary health care centers in Makkah, Madinah, Jeddah, in addition to Jazan, Najran and Assir regions.
 
Out of 790,602 targeted children, doses were given to 778,326. The number of vaccinated children in each region is as follows: 225,026 in Jeddah, 138,938 in Makkah, 130,647 in Madinah, 104,555 in Jazan, 53,594 in Najran and 125,573 in Assir.
 
On his part, the Assistant Deputy Minister for Preventive Medicine Dr. Abdullah bin Mifreh Assiri underscored the MOH's keenness to go on with implementation of refreshing annual campaigns to combat polio in the most vulnerable areas, with the aim of immunizing our beloved children and maintaining the Kingdom free of polio according to the standards of the world centers for disease control, and international organizations, atop of which is the World Health Organization (WHO).
 
Dr. Assiri extended his thanks to all citizens and residents for their cooperation with members of the vaccination teams and their support for the MOH's efforts to make the campaign successful and protect the future generations, Allah willing.
