MOH Organizes a Training Program for Honing Skills of Hospital Directors

Under the auspices of His Excellency the Vice Minister of Health for Health Affairs, Dr. Mansour Al-Howasi, the Director General of Hospitals Affairs, Dr. Abdulaziz bin Hamed Al-Ghamdi, inaugurated on Monday a five-day training course at Al-Khozama Hotel in Riyadh. The training course is meant to hone skills of directors of central hospitals throughout the Kingdom’s regions.
 
Dr. Al-Ghamdi has pointed out that this training course comes within the framework of the ongoing strenuous efforts intended to develop work performance at the Ministry of Health (MOH) hospitals, and as part of an integrated training program to promote the performance level of directors of existing hospitals, as well as qualifying the new candidates to manage new hospitals.
 
“The Hospitals General Department, in collaboration with the Training and Scholarships General Department, has embarked on implementing training courses for honing skills of directors and medical directors of hospitals since 1428H,” said Dr. Al-Ghamdi, adding, “Further to such activities, the Hospitals General Department began today to implement this training course; aiming at providing directors of hospitals with the updates on hospital management and honing their skills in managing hospitals by means of identifying the leadership and performance development strategies, health facilities strategic planning, their attainment of basic skills for risks control and patient safety and management of resources and services at hospitals.”
 
Dr. Al-Ghamdi highlighted that the training program comprises some workshops, to be delivered by some senior officials and directors general of the main general departments at the Ministry; with a view to identifying the tasks of these departments and redressing problems facing directors of hospitals, as well as answering the attendees’ inquiries.
 
“The training course touches on a number of important topics and workshops, with participation of a constellation of experts and specialists. The main topics are: the leadership and performance development strategies, leadership principles, model leader’s qualities, leadership character, sentinel events, clinical auditing and hospital strategic planning,” said Dr. Al-Ghamdi.
 
He added that some workshops were delivered by the Director of Recruitment, the Director of Diabetes Units and Centers, the Director General of Maintenance, the Director General of Equipment, the Director General of Specialized Centers and Visiting Physicians Affairs and the Director General of Medical Supply.”
 
It is worth mentioning that the training course is accredited by the Saudi Commission for Health Specialties (SCHS) with 22 continuing medical education (CME) hours.
