26 January 2015
As part of the Ministry of Health’s (MOH) efforts to serve patients and meet their health needs, His Excellency the Minister of Health, Dr. Muhammad bin Ali Alhayaza, has approved the regulation of the part-time employees, including physicians and other health practitioners appointed under the Self-Employment Program. This procedure comes within the framework of the MOH endeavors to reduce the waiting lists and patients’ appointments at surgery units or other clinics in health facilities, meanwhile making optimal use of the specialized health cadres and competencies at the medical cities and referential hospitals, the matter which in turn reflects positively on improving the quality of health services.

It is worth mentioning that the MOH primary healthcare centers have been visited by 56.3 million patients, the outpatient clinics by more than 12.3 million patients and the emergency sections by about 22 million patients during the past year. In addition, 474,000 surgeries and 269,114 vaginal and caesarean deliveries were performed in the same year at the MOH hospitals.
