Prince Sultan Cardiac Center in Najran Conducts 1,230 Cardiac Catheterization Operations

The Deputy Minister of Health for Curative Services, Dr. Abdulaziz Al-Hemaidi, has pointed out that Prince Sultan Cardiac Center (PSCC) in Najran offers integrated and high quality health services for patients with cardiac diseases and provides them with the latest medical services, adding that such services are carried out through setting high-level standards and attracting many of the globally-distinguished physicians to the center. In addition, the center managed to put an end to the problem of referring heart patients outside the region.
 
“The PSCC has obtained both global (JCI) and local (CBAHI) certificates in the application of quality standards. Also, it is reckoned the only center in the Southern Region specialized in the treatment of heart diseases. Since its inauguration in late 1433H, the center has performed at least 1,230 therapeutic and diagnostic cardiac catheterizations and about 25 open-heart surgery operations,” said Dr. Al-Hemaidi.
 
He went on adding that the Ministry of Health (MOH) seeks to expand the specialized referential health services all over the Kingdom’s regions, through its National Project for the Integrated and Inclusive Health Care which aims to achieve the principles of equality, justice, and inclusiveness in distributing the health services and making them available for all citizens. Amid the MOH's goals are to provide the health care services for citizens in their regions to lift the burden of travelling abroad in search of such specialized medical centers.
 
It is worth mentioning that at least 22,194 patients have benefited from the diagnostic and therapeutic services of the center. These services include cardiac emergency, outpatient clinics, hospitalization, electrocardiography, monitoring heart activity (Holter), echocardiography, pediatric cardiac surgery operations, diagnostic and interventional cardiac catheterization operations, permanent cardiac pacemaker implantation, and cardiac surgical operations.
 
Furthermore, the center has examined more than 10,890 outpatient visitors, diagnosed 6,031 cases, treated 2,067 cases, admitted 1,777 patients in the cardiac and intensive care (IC) units, implanted cardiac pacemakers for 17 cases, and conducted many congenital heart defect corrective surgery operations.
 
It is noteworthy that the center is equipped with 42 beds, 19 IC beds, six cardiac clinics; three CT scan rooms, three electrocardiography rooms, two operation rooms and two laboratories for cardiac catheterization. In addition, the center employs nine consultant physicians, eleven specialists, and nine resident physicians. They are specialized in all cardiac-related fields. The center holds also supportive medical cadres and administrative officials.
