06 January 2014
The Ministry of Health (MOH) has provided “UpToDate® Service” free of charge for all MOH health practitioners and specialists via the computer or the mobile phone, so as to enable them to review the latest medical information and clinical applications, that are accessible in the form of medical recommendations, issues and information, and evidence-based charts, whose effectiveness in terms of improving the patients' care and its quality has been proven.

Within the same vein, the Advisor to the Minister and Supervisor-General of the Information and Communications Technology (ICT), Dr. Abdullah Al-Weheibi, has pointed out that MOH provides this service within the framework of upgrading the performance level of all health practitioners and those working in the health sector, so as to assume their tasks to the fullest, which will be reflected in improving the quality of health services provided to citizens, in line with the highest global quality standards; in an endeavor to achieve the MOH motto: "Patient First."

Dr. Al-Weheibi went on adding that (UpToDate®) is reckoned a principal source for the evidence-based medical decision, upon which clinicians around the world have drawn for the proper medical decision-making and information acquisition regarding the care field.

“The information on this website is evidence-based and continuously updated; it is neither a matter of merely gathering nor writing reports on the latest researches. Rather, this website works on displaying comprehensive listing for the directory, attached with the recommendations and suggestions which can be adopted and benefited from in the care field. Further, this website is not only a developed publishing platform, but also a precise, advanced edition process, managed by a host of physician-authors and clever editors, those who are highly experienced in their specialties,” said Dr. Al-Weheibi.

He further highlighted that MOH provides this service free of charge for all health practitioners, as part of its ongoing keenness to promote their professional performance, as well as providing all the ways for them to develop their skills and practical experience. Finally, Dr. Al-Weheibi has wished that this website will be a good help to all health practitioners in carrying out their duties to perfection.

It is worth mentioning that more than 5,100 world-renowned physicians, authors, editors and reviewers use a precise editing process, across this website, to gather the latest medical information, which contributes to providing the best health care; with the aim of improving the medical services and the patient’s health care.
