Riyadh's Regional Laboratory, participating in the External Quality Control program, has got the full mark in the assessment of all external standard samples in the test of standard samples performed by the World Health Organization (WHO) in Muscat for this year (2013). The tested samples included sections of bacteria, tuberculosis, public health and parasites in the medical laboratories and blood banks.
The Director General of Laboratories and Blood Banks at the Ministry of Health (MOH), Dr. Ali bin Sa'd Al-Shammari, has pointed out that this regional lab is the first lab to receive this degree among the laboratories participating in the program all over the Middle East, noting that this achievement reflects the evolution of the performance level witnessed in laboratories and blood banks, and the strenuous efforts exerted to provide the finest and the best laboratory services for the beneficiaries of these services.
Furthermore, Al-Shammari went on adding that this program is one of the programs overseen by Laboratories and Blood Banks Department. The number of the external programs, involved by laboratories to ensure the accuracy and quality of the results, reached to about 18 programs covering 520 operating locations.
