16 March 2013
The Deputy Minister of Health for Medical Supply and Engineering Affairs, Dr. Salah Al-Mazrou‘, has confirmed that the Security and Safety General Department intends to create a database to link all directorates, hospitals and health centers with a major control room within the Ministry of Health (MOH); in an endeavor to help the peripheral regions in conveying the requested information for them in the future.

During launching the Safety and Security Control and Operations Room at the MOH Headquarters today, Dr. Al-Mazrou‘ went on adding that the department has managed to connect all security and safety systems with the four buildings pertinent to the MOH towers, as well as the former MOH headquarter, the departments of the medical institutions in “Al-Mourabba‘” district and the MOH Complex in Al-Sulaimanyyah district. Later on, the remaining regions and provinces will be linked to the MOH Security and Safety Control and Operations Room.

Dr. Al-Mazrou‘ has further pointed out that the MOH Security and Safety General Department is reckoned an integrated department, and, in the mean time, supporting all MOH staff and employees. Thus, it is considered as an assistant agent, given that security and safety are two faces of the same coin. Hence, Dr. Al-Mazrou‘ has noted that the MOH officials are sparing no effort to support this department alongside the other ones.

“What I saw was so much pleasant for me, and I will convey to the Minister the strenuous effort exerted by the Security and Safety General Department. Meanwhile, it should not escape my notice to extend my thanks to all its staff, noting that such an operations room specialized in security and safety is significant and a privileged action,” stated the Deputy Minister of Health for Medical Supply and Engineering Affairs.

For his part, the Director General of Security and Safety, Eng. Anas Al-Zaid, has expounded that MOH has made great strides in using technology in the field of safety and security. Besides, he indicated that the control and operations room at MOH is important to monitor all the operations on the ground, as well as contributing to minimizing the risk of accidents, aside from receiving all communications and notes to view them.

Within the same vein, the Deputy Minister of Health for Medical Supply and Engineering Affairs, Dr. Salah Al-Mazrou‘, and a number of MOH officials have briefed on the potentials and equipment of the control room, including the surveillance cams, alarm, wireless devices that connect the four buildings pertinent to MOH’s towers with the former MOH headquarter, the departments of the medical institutions in “Al-Mourabba‘” district and the buildings of the MOH Complex in Al-Sulaimanyyah district. After that, Dr. Al-Mazrou‘ has listened to a detailed explanation for the plan of the Security and Safety General Department with regard to linking the directorates all over the regions and governorates with the main control and operations room.

It is noteworthy that the plan of the Security and Safety General Department, which extends for three years, is based on using the technology of networks and monitoring systems to follow up the work and the protection of the MOH facilities that are more than three thousand facilities all over the Kingdom’s regions and governorates. That is to be done by means of each directorate to create an operations room for security and safety; in order to monitor its hospitals, health facilities, administrative buildings and warehouses around the clock. Then, MOH is to link them with the directorate operations rooms through the control room newly launched.
