On behalf of the Vice Minister of Health for Health Affairs Dr. Mansour Al Howasi, the Deputy Minister of Health for Curative Services, Dr. AbulAziz Al-Hemeidi, has launched the seventh meeting with the directors of laboratories and blood banks in health regions and provinces. The meeting was held in Riyadh; and lasted for two days.
At the beginning of the meeting, the Director-General of Laboratories and Blood Banks, Dr. Ali Al-Shammari welcomed the Vice Minister of Health for Curative Services, Directors of Laboratories and Blood Banks, and Coordinators of blood banks of the Kingdoms regions and provinces. He stressed the importance of medical laboratories and blood banks as they are considered the core of medical health services, by way of following up a lot of patient cases that, also, require accurate, correct and punctual lab service.
Dr. Al-Shammari indicated that transfusion medicine is also considered another basic center of health services as the suitable and safe provision of blood is the slogan of blood banks. In order to reflect this slogan, an integrated, systematic workflow is required according to accredited, smooth, sustained and coherent scientific basis. Each of them is of the same importance, starting with the correct selection of a healthy donor, going through several stages aiming at providing a high and secure level of blood, besides implementing quality standards through all stages, ending with the patient’s vein.
He underscored the importance of the systematic workflow and the multiplied exerted efforts will easily collapse if there was a lack of seriousness and professionalism by any employee working in this cycle; which will negatively be reflected on the whole systematic workflow. Thus, precautionary measures must be taken into consideration to avoid such accidents.
Dr. Al-Shammari expressed his sincere thanks and appreciation to the Vice Minister of Health for Health Affairs, Dr. Mansour Al Howasi, under whose auspices the meeting was held, and to the Deputy Minister of Health for Curative Services, Dr. AbulAziz Al-Hemeidi, for launching and attending the meeting activities. He also thanked the Assistant Deputy Minister of Health for Supportive Medical Services, Dr. Munira Al-Osaimi, for her efforts, wishing all the best of luck and success.
Afterwards, the Deputy Minister of Health for Curative Services, Dr. AbulAziz Al-Hemeidi, delivered a speech in which he emphasized the significance of the great role of labs and blood banks and appreciated employees efforts to offer the best medical health services in all regions and provinces of the Kingdom; which is the purpose of this annual meeting in order to activate the role of the working national competencies who deserve to be praised for the progressive work.
It is worthwhile to mention that the seventh meeting with the directors of laboratories and blood banks in health regions and provinces witnessed a number of lectures and worksheets that were discussed. Of the main lectures was one titled (The Organizational Structure of the General Department Suggested to Medical Laboratories and Blood Banks in Regions and Provinces) presented by Dr. Ali Al-Shammari and Mamdouh Al-Rabieni. Also, there was a lecture titled (Riyadh’s Regional Laboratory Experience with Connecting the Network with Other Health Sectors) presented by Khalid Abdul Rahman Saad Al-Soraie, another lecture entitled (National Programs in Medical laboratories and Regional Laboratories Project) was presented by Dr.Ali AL-Shanqeti. In addition, (Rare Specialized Laboratory Tests) lecture was presented by Dr. Ibrahim Al- Maghawry, and (Public Health Laboratories Between reality and expectations) was presented by Dr. FatenAl-Saif, Kinan Al-Kabbani and Abdul Rahman Al-Sayari. Moreover, on the sidelines of the meeting, there was meetings and open discussions with the Deputy Minister of Health for Curative Services, Dr. Al-Hemeidi, the Director-General of Medical Supply and the Director-General of Laboratories and Blood Banks.
