Dr. Memish Inaugurates the “Epidemiology Diploma” at Prince Salman Social Center

On behalf of His Excellency the Minister of Health, Dr. Abdullah bin Abdulaziz Al-Rabeeah, the MOH Deputy Minister of Public Health, Dr. Ziad bin Ahmad Memish has inaugurated, the day before yesterday, the Epidemiology Diploma at Prince Salman Social Center (PSSC). The Diploma is to be organized by the Ministry of Health in collaboration with the University of Liverpool, and will last for three months.
 
Dr. Memish has pointed out that this incident is occurring for the first time in the Kingdom as part of the agreement between the Ministry of Health (MOH) and the University of Liverpool (Faculty of Tropical Medicine), which aims at upgrading the control of contagious diseases and vector diseases programs.
 
Dr. Memish has indicated that the Diploma would be implemented by a number of academics and lecturers from the University of Liverpool. Meanwhile, the Diploma is subject to the rules of the University and its approaches, and the graduate is to be given the Diploma Certificate from the University. Thus, it would be an incentive for him to complete his scientific researches, within an action plan carried out by the Public Health Agency, targeting the Saudi ambitious young workers in the field of the infectious diseases and disease vectors.
 
Within the same vein, Dr. Memish has expounded that an organizing committee for this course has been formed, including a constellation of specialists; to select the distinguished candidates for the diploma from the whole Kingdom’s regions, and with the participation of candidates from the Ministry of Agriculture.  Besides, Dr. Memish has underscored that this diploma is reckoned the first fruits of several courses and studies, which MOH is planning to implement within the framework of the agreement with the University of Liverpool.
 
It’s worth mentioning that the partnership agreement between the MOH and the University of Liverpool aims at cooperating to upgrade the National Center for Disease Vector Control in Jazan, which is the specialist center in combating the tropical diseases in the Kingdom. In addition, the University of Liverpool will ensure providing the Ministry of Health with training programs for Saudi health cadres, qualifying and providing them with certificates of Master and PhD in the field of the various vector-borne diseases.
 
It is noteworthy that the Faculty of Medicine at the University of Liverpool in the United Kingdom comprises distinguished scholars and experts in the various Public Health branches, especially those dealing with the vector-borne diseases, that is to be added of being the first in this field on the global level.
