King Abdullah Medical City Conducts 12 Open-Heart Surgeries since the Beginning of this Year's Hajj

   The number of the pilgrim patients who had open-heart surgeries conducted on them at King Abdullah Medical City (KAMC) in Makkah since the beginning of this year's Hajj reached 12 pilgrims of several nationalities. Thus, Dr. Adel Tash, the director of the Heart health Center at King Abddullah Medical City, stated that the City provides many services for patients, especially in terms of open-heart operations, repairing valves, artery operation using beating heart technique, aorta replacement operations, and arterial fibrillation cauterization. On the other hand, the ages of the patients undergoing open-heart operations varied; one of the patients is 91 years old; another operation was conducted on a young man ageing 17 years, and one more on a girl ageing 16 years.
 
Meanwhile, Dr. Tash pointed out that many patients prayed to the Custodian of the Two Holy Mosques, May Allah protect him, and those in charge of the medical city.
 
As far as the health of the pilgrims who underwent open-heart operations, he affirmed that some of them are stabilized and left the clinical rooms; whereas some are still under the medical supervision. He further made clear that the patients whose case got stabilized, and are still in the clinical rooms, they, on the Day of Arafat, are to be moved via equipped medical convoys to the Holy Site of Arafat to perform the rites.
 
Within the same vein, Dr. Adel Tash extended his thanks and appreciation to the Government of the Custodian of the Two Holy Mosques and HRH the Crown Prince, May Allah protect them, for their incessant support and their interest in providing all the services to the pilgrims. He also thanked the officials of the Ministry of Health (MOH) for their taking care of the pilgrim patients, and providing the best medical technologies in order to serve them and maintain their health. For example, they recruited distinctive consultants and assistants, equipped the operation rooms with the best techniques, outstripping many of the similar centers in the world. They also prepared operation room for the interventional cardiac catheterization along with open-heart surgery, a rare technique all over the world. In addition, they prepared the intensive care beds for critical cases, using the optimal medical follow-up techniques, and technical usages enhance the medical work quality.
 
It is worthwhile to mention that King Abdullah Medical City in Makkah is one of the biggest medical cities in the Kingdom with 1500 bed capacity. Thus, it is a fully fledged medical city providing specialized services of the third and fourth degrees such as advanced heart surgeries, tumor treatments with its all forms, hepatic surgeries, and organ transplantation. In addition, it includes a center for medical research.
