The Ministry of Health (MOH) attracted 320 physicians and consultants across rare specialties to support the health facilities at the Sacred Capital, the Holy Places and Madinah. That comes under the umbrella of the MOH's efforts to serve pilgrims during this year's Hajj season and provide them with all medical requirements.
Dr. Taha bin Omar Al-Khatib, the Supervisor General of the of Hajj and Umrah Health Services, Chairman of the Public Services Commission, said the Visiting Manpower Program made great success over the past years.
This year, around 320 physicians and technicians of rare specialties take part in the Program in order to support the health facilities in the Sacred City (Makkah), the Holy Places and Madinah.
The number of consultants and specialists from inside the Kingdom reached 115 participants. Intensive care and anesthesia accounted for 14 consultants, 22 specialists and eight resident doctors. The emergency department includes 16 consultants and 31 specialists. The cardiac department includes 13 heart/catheterization consultants and 11 specialists. Additionally, 205 catheterization technicians, respiratory therapy specialists and intensive care/emergency nurses take part in the Programme, including 40 catheterization and X-ray and nursing), 35 respiratory therapy specialists and technicians and 130 intensive care and emergency nurses.
Al-Khatib noted that the Public Service Commission in Hajj used, for the second subsequent year, the software online to recruit the members of the Visiting Manpower Programme. The Commission prepared and designed a software to receive candidate applications and fill vacancies such as at the departments of Intensive Care, emergency and anesthesia and heart. All the candidates for the Visiting Manpower Program signed contracts online after being evaluated and accepted.
