Minister of Health Approves the Regulations of the Award of Excellence

   During the last meeting of The Executive Board of the Ministry of Health, His Excellency the Minister of Health, Dr. Abdullah bin Abdulaziz Al-Rabeeah has approved the regulations of Award of Excellence of the Ministry of Health. The regulations are scheduled to be implemented as of the beginning of the year 1433. The Award of Excellence aims to enhance the performance quality at the MOH by encouraging and appreciating the distinguished staff of the Ministry of Health financially and morally. The Ministry is seeking through this Award to discover the distinguished MOH staff and the best practices to be standardized, encourage scientific research within the Ministry to be used in the planning process, in addition to spreading the culture of competition and excellence among MOH employees.
The Quality Assurance General Department has prepared the regulations, requirements, conditions, nomination procedures and criteria of the award, as well as the formation of committees and the organizational structure. The General Department has also assigned the tasks and designated the members. According to the nomination conditions, candidates should be of MOH employees, with excellent job evaluations for the last two years, and at least two years of employment. On the other hand, research must have been published or accepted for publication within up to three years. Each candidate can submit only one research.
The Regulations identify two categories of the Ministry's Award of Excellence; the first category is Employee Award, 250 awards, that includes all employees of the Ministry Headquarters, and Health Affairs Directorates in all regions and provinces. This category includes physicians, pharmacists, specialists, technicians and administrators. While the second category is the Distinguished Research Award, 10 awards, including all the research papers submitted by the MOH employees.
The award supervisory committee was formed and chaired by the Deputy Minister of Health for Planning and Development, with the membership of a number of deputy ministers and directors general. The committee’s tasks include setting the general policy of the award, adopting its conditions and criteria, and approving the results of the jury.
