CCHI Bans In-house Clinics to Regulate Health Services

​The Council for Cooperative Health Insurance has issued a resolution to ban in-house clinics run by insurance companies to guarantee that insured patients receive their healthcare from MOH-authorized hospitals and healthcare centers which have approved equipment and qualified medical personnel. ​

The resolution was announced recently at the 83rd session of the General Secretariat of the Cooperative Council for Health Insurance, headed by His Excellency the Minister of Health and President of the Council for Cooperative Health Insurance, Dr. Abdullah Bin Abdul Aziz Al Rabeeah. The meeting was held at the GCC Secretariat’s hheadquarters in Riyadh.  

At the opening of the session, the Secretary General of CCHI, Dr. Abdullah Bin Ibrahim Al Sharif, reviewed a detailed report on the Council’s performance and on recent developments in the cooperative health insurance field.  CCHI is seeing continual improving in its system, which targets all employees in the private sector. There are 26 qualified health insurance companies in the Kingdom with more than 8,600,000 subscribers.  These beneficiaries are served at authorized hospitals and health centers by a network of more than 2,402 service providers. 

The Council members then discussed other main topics on their agenda, including the awarding of the Secretariat General’s GCCHI chartered accountant contract to the Al Kharashi Legal Accounting Office.
The Council also discussed the final version of the e-link project and approved an implementation contract with a consulting firm.  E-link will help to coordinate activities between related authorities. 

The Council then announced the names of Committee members who have been appointed Members of the Executive Regulation Review Committee for the Cooperative Health Insurance Fund.  These appointees include: Ministry of Finance Representative, Dr. Abdul Rahman Al Khalaf, Private Health Sectors Representative, Dr. Sami Al Abdul Karim, Cooperative Health Insurance Companies Representative, Mr. Ali Al Ayed and Ministry of Commerce and Industry Representative, Mr. Ahmed Bin Abdul Rahman Al Abdul Alli.
  
Others appointees are Advisory Committee for Health Insurance Magazine Ministry of Health Representative, Dr. Mansour Bin Naser Al Howasi, Governmental Health Sectors Representative, Dr. Mohammed Al Shehri and Ministry of Labor Representative, Mr. Othman Al Hegail. The Investment Committee’s Outer Member is Mr. Al Marshad, and the Previous Private Health Sectors Representative is Mr. Naser Al Subaiei.
