Prevention and Treatment Services for MOH’s Visitors in Al Janadriyah

The Ministry of Health is providing a number of medical services to the visitors of the National Festival for Heritage and Culture “Al Janadriyah 26”. These services include early checkup for tumors, examination of obesity and diabetes in addition to primary care through specialized clinics in the MOH section in Al Janadriyah.

The Supervisor of MOH’s section in Al Janadriyah, Ahmed Al Zubaidi clarified that the Ministry of Health has set a huge tent that includes 25 stands with several medical specialties. He indicated that MOH participation in the festival this year combines preventive, curative and educational services through several primary health care programs, tumors check up program, obesity prevention program, kidney donation program as well as many activities related to raising health awareness about many epidemic diseases and ways to prevent them.
Moreover, Al Zubaidi added that the kidney donation stand was very popular, where about 2000 visitors came to it. Samples were taken from some visitors, while some of them were referred to Prince Salman Center for Kidney Disease for more medical examinations. The stand has also handed flyers and brochures to the visitors and informed them about dialysis technologies, and how to examine kidney function. He pointed out that there are professionals who take urine samples to conduct laboratory tests and refer patients to the center in order to precede their treatment.
In addition, the stand includes many services like introducing the visitors to the methods of kidney transplant, the donors, the patients who meet the donation’s requirements, and the primary preparations for kidney transplant; As well as an introduction about kidney transplant waiting list, and the brain-dead donor.

It will also include information about the transplant surgery such as its preparation, process, duration and complications, in addition to the patient’s expectations, medications and how to get back to his normal life; where there are educational programs specialized in dental care, healthy food, physical activity, sex, pregnancy, smoking and travel.
On the other hand, the obesity stand was also well-liked, 400 visitor so far. Awareness services were provided to them by specialists, where they’ve introduced them to the definition of obesity, its causes, complications and health risks, as well as how to prevent it, general nutrition tips and programs that must be followed in such cases.
Furthermore, specialists are measuring visitors’ height and weight and educating them with what would match the results of the initial examination. They also inform the visitors about healthy weight-loss diets and the risks of following poor ones.
Many of the visitors expressed their admiration of this section, where MOH provided the section with several services and equipments, including the measurement of biomarkers for diabetes, blood pressure levels and weight, in addition to the distribution of awareness publications and brochures.

Specialists are also available to answer questions about methods of diseases prevention and treatment, as well as suitable exercises.
Nevertheless, the MOH section in Al Janadriyah demonstrates the different stages of health services development. It also educates the visitors through associated activities and events.
