On March 12th and 13th, 2011, the MOH General Directorate of Laboratories and Blood Banks offered a course entitled “Safety and Security Procedures in Clinical Laboratories.” Twenty-five trainees from various health disciplines participated in the course, which was offered with the cooperation of the General Directorate for Training and Scholarship.
In his speech marking the opening of the course, the General Director of Blood Banks and Laboratories, Dr. Ibrahim Al-Omar,
stated that its purpose was to educate participants about the scientific basis for, latest developments in and importance of using proper safety and security procedures in a clinical laboratory setting.
The course also introduced participants to the tools, equipment andprotocols forlaboratory safety and security.
Attendees completing the two-day course qualified to receive laboratory staff accreditation certificates.
