Minister of Healththe First Among MOH Staff to Donate Blood
01 March 2011

The Minister of Health, Dr. Abdullah Bin Abdul Aziz Al Rabeeah, was the first member of the MOH staff to donate blood (450 ml) during the recent blood donation campaign, “To a Caring Father We Give Our Blood.” This 3-day campaign was inspired by the safe homecoming of the Custodian of the Two Holy Mosques, King Abdullah Bin Abdul Aziz.

In a press conference following his own blood donation, Dr. Al Rabeeah asserted that his staff’sdonations exemplified love for their King as well as for their fellow citizens who are the eventual recipients.
In the same interview, Dr. Al Rabeeah also detailed some of the advances in the Ministry of Health. He explained that the MOH is going through major management and organizational developments, and that the public has a right to expect complete transparency from the Ministry.
“We evaluate these programs periodically,” Dr. Al Rabeeah said. “The results are great. But our most valuable feedback comes from the citizens themselves, when they experience the outcomes. We have data indicating that the load on emergency beds is decreasing, and that intensive care unit beds are being utilized perfectly.  We also know that public satisfaction with the Kingdom’s health services is increasing, even though we are still in the early stages of our program enhancements.

We look forward to the future.
Moreover, HE revealed that external institutions and organizations have been contracted to evaluate the success of these programs. The results of these assessments will be announced transparently, whether or not they reflect positively or negatively on the Ministry.
Dr. Al Rabeeah stated that the main items in the MOH’s strategic plan come from the plan accredited by the Al Shura Council, in coordination with the national project for integrated and comprehensive health care and the Health Services Board.HE added that the ten-year plan seeks to be fair in providing health services in addition to applying scientific methods towards providing accessible services. The plan also aims to decrease transferring patients around the Kingdom, to reach a balance betweenvarious health sectors and to establish a working partnership with the private sector.
