Dr. Al Hawasi: Inaugurates the First Batch of Domestic Medicine Program Vehicles

Executive Affairs Deputy Minister, Dr. Mansour Al Hawasi revealed that 25% of Domestic Medicine Program cases are chronic diseases. Dr. Al Hawasi added that the second rank of the first batch is the nervous system injuries and brain strokes with a 33%. Then psychiatric and neurological disorders with a 18% , wounds and clinical and diabetic foot ulcers with a 12% and the least percentage is cancerous diseases with 2% of gross program benefiters cases since established which is 5.000 cases Kingdom-wide.
 
He mentioned that 80 vehicles were added to Domestic Medicine Program Kingdom-wide as a first batch that will be followed with other batches to support the program. That is according to the directions of Minister of Health, Dr. Abdullah Al Rabeeah and along with the Ministry orientations aiming to serve patients and please them.
 
On the other hand, Domestic Medicine Program General Supervisor, Dr. Nasser Al Hezaim, mentioned that the program provides a lot of medical services like palliative care for cancer patients, advanced and chronic diseases and their complications such as blood pressure, diabetes, cardio, chronic respiratory diseases, clinical ulcers, wounds, tube and intravenous feeding, nervous system injuries and brain strokes, urinary system diseases and urinary catheters.
 
Moreover, he clarified that the program aims to provide a curative, preventative, rehabilitative and educational health care to patients at their houses by a prepared medical team that leaves the hospital according to a schedule that meets the patient's needs.
 
Dr. Al Hezaim added that the program also aims to reduce patients' visits to emergency departments to get services that can be provided to them in their homes, controlling repetition of elderly patients and chronic diseases patients' hospitalization in addition to contributing in spreading awareness and health gaudiness within patients and their families.
 
He also mentioned that the program was established according to the Minister of Health decision on Rabi' al-Awwal-1430.
