Director General of the GCC Health Ministers Executive Office, Dr. Tawfiq Bin Ahmed Khoja, and the President of the Board of the Euro-Arab Environment, Prof. Saleh Al-Muzaini signed a cooperation pact between the office and the organization in the executive office located in Riyadh yesterday.
This pact was signed as an implementation of the objectives of the GCC Health Ministers council, which includes the cooperation among the Council countries in terms of health awareness related to the environment, exchanging experiences and knowledge that would improve this field and of Gulf workforce in it, benefiting from all available possibilities as well as finding solutions to control infectious and diseases linked to the Gulf environment. The signing of this pact comes within the framework of having strategic health and environmental partnerships with sectors that deal with public health and environment of the Gulf, Arab and Europe.
Director General of the GCC Health Ministers Executive Office, Dr. Tawfiq Bin Ahmed Khoja, said that this pact aims to serve the interests and common goals between the office and the organization and to coordinate efforts in a professional and ethical manner to achieve the desired objective of this pact in accordance with international standards for each party.
Dr. Khoja pointed out that this pact included the participation of the Executive Office with the Organization in raising awareness and improving public health that is related to the environment in the GCC countries and cooperating with related organizations, institutions and governmental and non-governmental universities. It also included launching Gulf, Arab and international initiatives related to public health and environment serving and achieving the expectations of the government and private business sector in GCC. The Organization is a consultative body for the Executive Office that provides consultations as well as technical and environmental support required for environmental health projects and follow-up their improvement with the participation of experts from the Organization to support these projects upon request and by the concerned authorities of the Executive Office.
In addition to holding international conferences, workshops and training and developmental courses to serve the interests of the Office in cooperation with the Organization aiming to train and enhance health sector in the GCC in the field of health awareness related to maintaining the environment. There is also a cooperation between the Executive Office of the Organization in asking international expertise to contribute in providing studies, consultations and researches that supports establishing public health projects related to the environment, cooperating and coordinating in the field of environmental health media, awareness campaigns and related educational programs to governmental and non-governmental sectors in the GCC countries and others concerned in this field in order to pay attention towards the interest and health of future generations, contribute in maintaining public health from pollution and environmental destruction diseases and cooperate in the field of preparing of joint visits programs for GCC officials and to meet with their counterparts in the Arab and European countries in the field of environmental health.
That is in addition to asking the Executive Office and the Organization staff to participate and benefit from activities and events, which are hosted by both parties in the GCC countries the European Union countries, Arab and other countries in reduced participation charges and relief workers in the Executive Office or any of the governmental authorities of those who wish to join membership of the Organization from the annual fees and enjoy its benefits, where the renewal of annual membership for senior personnel through the Executive Office.
As well as the exchanged attendance and participation of the Executive Office and the Organization in the invitations of seminars, exhibitions and conferences hosted by both sides, where each party will pay the cost for its representatives participation.
Director General of the Executive Office, clarified that this pact was signed as an implementation of the resolutions of the Council in enhancing health work with institutions, organizations and bodies that are related to the activities and objectives of the GCC Health Ministers Council as well as the principle of good wills and mutual benefit and cooperation in the field of supporting and improving public health and environment, in addition to promoting initiatives and investment associated with the field of developing health facilities and sustainable development in the states of the Executive Office. The pact will be valid for 3 years and renewed automatically, unless one of the parties informs the other about his desire of not renewing it.
However, implemented or current projects will not be affected. He also hopped for more successes under the leadership of our governors and GCC Ministers of Health.
