New employment cadre for pharmacists studied
25 February 2008
The Board members of the Saudi Pharmaceutical Society (SPS) discussed with the Minister of Civil Service Mr. Mohammed bin Ali Al-Faiz on Saturday Feb 24, 2007, in presence of the Minister Advisor Mr. Abdullah Al-Malfi, the employment carder of the pharmacy profession, which is subject to reevaluation as per the guiding of the Custodian of the Two Holy Mosques King Abdullah bin Abdul Aziz last week. The Board called upon the Minister of Civil Service to take actions for improving the current cadre for the benefit of pharmacy personnel.

On his part, the Minister of Civil Service praised the pharmacy profession, describing it as one of the cornerstones of health work in the Kingdom. He appreciated the SPS efforts in serving the profession and its personnel, especially as it is one of the earliest professional societies in the Kingdom.

"Improving the employment cadre of the pharmacy profession is a high concern among relative officials in the government", he said. "The new cadre will include a better classification of pharmacists as well a better evaluation of their academic and specialist certificates they carry for encouraging them to improve their skills".

The Board expressed its gratitude to the Minister of Civil Service for his response towards the appeal. The president of the Pharmaceutical Society Dr. Mohammed Al-Sultan presented a memorial gift to His Excellency on the occasion. It is worth mentioning that the SPS Honorary President is Tabuk Governor His Royal Highness Prince Fahad bin Sultan bin Abdul Aziz. The SPS Board of Directors in its tenth session has been elected by the SPS General Assembly meeting last year. Its membership includes pharmacists, academicians, and pharmaceutical pratictioners from the government and private sectors.
