Private hospitals must provide urgent treatment, Al-Qahtani
27 January 2008
The MOH Directorate General of Hospitals Dr. Ali bin Qasim Al-Qahtani said MOH has set a mechanism for transferring newly born children requiring intensive care to private hospitals in the cases where intensive care is not available in the government hospital to which the case have been carried, provided that the government shall bear all relative costs.

He said pregnancy and delivery cases are followed at the primary health care centers or transferred to public or delivery hospitals. "Private hospitals are committed to provide emergency treatment without prior payment", he said.

He said private hospitals have been confirmed that they must provide prompt treatment to emergency cases. "MOH follows such cases and penalizes neglectful hospitals", he said.
