22 August 2007
MOH has urged all health sectors to implement quality standards for ensuring  provision of safe and sound services through reducing medical mistakes and eliminating their risks.

The MOH Official Speaker Dr. Khalid M. Al-Marghalani said MOH has allotted this year for quality in accordance with the instructions of the Minister of Health and Head of the High Council for Quality Dr. Hamad bin Abdullah Al-Mane. He said the national standards of approving health establishments shall be applicable on both government and private health establishments throughout the coming two years, after which they shall either be granted quality licenses or have their licenses renewed.

Dr. Al-Marghalani said the Central Council for Approving Health Establishments shall provide the base for offering quality health services to both citizens and residents, denoting that all details relative to the implementation project have been reviewed.

He said a national committee has been formed from all health sectors for evaluating the quality standards formulated by national experts and followed within the hospitals and health centers by highly trained employees.

"The Minister of Health is personally following the time schedules of the evaluation works and distribution of implementation supervisors to hospitals and health centers", he said. "The Kingdom is a leader at both regional and Mediterranean levels in formulating and implementing health standards in the health centers".
