01 July 2007
The Council of Health Services in its meeting held on Sunday 09/06/1428H discussed the results of the national research on growth measurements for Saudi children and adolescents. The measurements included the length, weight, blood pressure, and liver size for 35279 individuals under 19 years of age.

The Council approved the results as reference national standards for use of the different health sectors in the Kingdom. The importance of the research emerges from the fact that it yielded national reference standards for growth measurements in children and adolescents for the first time in the Kingdom. King Abdul Aziz City for Science and Technology financed the study which was conducted by a team of specialists under the supervision of Prof Mohammed Isa Al-Mozan, the pediatrist at the faculty of medicine, King Saud University.

The researchers had submitted their results to the Children Health Conference convened in Jeddah on 28/10/1427H under the supervision of the Saudi Society of Pediatrists. The conference approved the results.
