Al-Mazroo to open food safety course Dr. Yacub Al-Mazroo, the MOH Assistant Undersecretary for Therapeutic Medicine, shall open on Saturday March 11, 2007 a five days course on HACCP applications. The course is organized by the MOH General Directorate for Nutrition in cooperation with the World Health Organization (WHO). It will be attended by nutrition specialists and technicians working at the MOH hospitals.Al-Mazroo to open food safety course According to Dr. Mohammed Al-Jasser, the General Supervisor of the Directorate of Nutrition, the course aims at improving the capabilities of nutrition specialists and technicians, a matter which in its turn leads to improvement of nutrition services provided at the hospitals. A number of prominent university lecturers and specialists in the field of preventive and therapeutic nutrition shall participate in offering the lectures of the course, which is approved by the Saudi Authority for Health Specialties. Al-Jasser said the course comprises lectures, field visits and workshops, including a general introduction on HACCP, the goals of HACCP development stages, food poisoning accidents, the model design of nutrition department at the hospitals, the bases for controlling the critical points for ensuring food safety, expected microbiological risks in foods and preventive methods, HACCP requirements at the nutrition departments in hospitals, application of HACCP system at the nutrition departments in hospitals, the health requirements of nutrition departments, food pollution and HACCP, HACCP application in Saudi Airlines supplies, the experience of Amal Complex for Psychological Health in HACCP applications, diseases resultant from food pollution.
