Saudi Airlines Participates in Milk Day Occasion
22 January 2007
The Saudi Airlines, in coordination with the national campaign for celebrating the National Day of Milk Drinking, will distribute milk freely to its passengers on all internal and international flights on Saturday the 1st of Muharram 1428H, the day allotted for the National Day of Milk drinking.

The initiative comes in response to the request of the Minister of Health Dr. Hamad bin Abdullah Al-Mane. It is part of the MOH strategy of including individuals and entities in the community in its campaigns.

The contribution also reflects the company's belief in the importance of milk drinking as a part of a healthy and balanced diet for immunization against diseases. Milk and milk derivatives are rich with calcium and vitamins such as D and K vitamins, which are important constituents of bone formation. Milk also includes iodine, which is important to the functionality of the thyroid gland. It further includes potassium and B complex vitamins which are vital for energy production and the functioning of the heart and blood vessels. Vitamin A from milk is also important in boosting the immunity function of the body.

MOH official speaker Dr. Khalid Marghalani, appreciated the participation, urging all community organizations to take similar actions. He said the campaign aims at combating osteoporosis, a prevalent disease believed to be resulting from ignoring milk drinking.
