Blood donation in Ramadan

Blood donation is possible during the holy month of Ramadan, and it is recommended to do so after breaking the fast to replenish fluids and avoid dizziness and fatigue.

Tips after donating blood:
  • Take a break, have a light snack, and leave the donation site after 10-15 minutes.
  • Avoid strenuous physical activity or heavy lifting for 5 hours after donating.
  • If you feel dizzy (lightheaded), it's recommended to lie on your back with your feet elevated.
  • Drink plenty of fluids.​
Minimum period allowed for re-donation:
You can donate again after eight weeks, provided that you donate no more than five times per year.

Groups disqualified from donating blood:
  • Under the age of 18.
  • Those with infectious diseases, such as AIDS, hepatitis B and C, syphilis, and malaria.
  • Those with hereditary blood diseases.
  • Those with severe anemia.
  • Those with chronic diseases, such as diabetes, high blood pressure, and cancer.
