The Minister of Health, H.E.Fahad Abdulrahman AlJalajel, expressed his profound gratitude and appreciation to His Royal Highness Prince Mohammed bin Salman bin Abdulaziz Al Saud, Crown Prince and Prime Ministe on the occasion of his blood donation and the launch of the 2026 Annual National Blood Donation Campaign. His Excellency emphasized that this gesture serves as a continuation of the humanitarian initiative launched by His Royal Highness last year, which actively promoted a culture of voluntary blood donation and reinforced the values of giving and societal solidarity across the Kingdom.
His Excellency affirmed that sustaining this campaign for the second consecutive year reflects HRH the Crown Prince's commitment to human health and his dedication to supporting national initiatives that foster community participation. It reinforces the concept of national responsibility toward patients and those in need of blood and its components, thereby backing the health system's efforts to ensure safe and sustainable blood supplies across all regions of KSA.
AlJalajel highlighted that the 2025 campaign generated a far-reaching health and social impact, quadrupling the number of donors and recording the highest turnout in the history of the Kingdom's blood banks, with over 65,000 donors. Voluntary donation reached a rate of 100%, with first-time donors exceeding 85%. This momentum directly benefited patient care, supporting more than 63,000 recipients of blood units, 10,000 recipients of platelets, and 10,000 recipients of plasma, thereby enhancing blood bank readiness and establishing voluntary donation as a sustainable community practice.
The Minister of Health explained that HRH the Crown Prince's donation sets an inspiring role model in humanitarian work, sending a national message that encourages all community members to participate in this noble cause that saves lives and supports patients. He noted that this initiative is part of a series of humanitarian endeavors reflecting the Wise Leadership's approach in prioritizing human health, elevating quality of life, and fostering voluntary work, in alignment with the goals of the Health Sector Transformation Program and Saudi Vision 2030 toward building a vibrant society whose members enjoy comprehensive healthy lives.
His Excellency concluded by calling upon all members of the community to participate in the National Blood Donation Campaign and to commit to regular donation, given its immense humanitarian value in saving the lives of patients and the injured.
