On behalf of His Highness Prince Faisal bin Farhan bin Abdullah, Minister of Foreign Affairs, Deputy Minister for International Cooperation at the Ministry of Health, Dr. Nouf AlNumair, participated in the G20 Foreign Ministers' Meeting on accelerating collective action to eradicate Ebola. The meeting was held in New York on the sidelines of the 81st session of the United Nations General Assembly.
The meeting brought together representatives of G20 countries, as well as invited countries and representatives of international organizations, with the participation of senior-level representatives from affected countries. It discussed ways to strengthen international coordination and accelerate joint efforts to contain Ebola outbreaks, support response efforts in affected countries, and enhance the health capacities needed to limit transmission and prevent the spread of the virus across borders.
The meeting also discussed the importance of unifying international efforts to address cross-border health threats, strengthening coordination among governments, international organizations, and health authorities, and accelerating the delivery of support to affected areas. This includes surveillance, diagnosis, field response, and strengthening health capacities, in addition to enhancing regional and international health preparedness.
