Minister of Health, H.E. Fahad Abdulrahman AlJalajel expressed his deep gratitude to the Custodian of the Two Holy Mosques King Salman bin Abdulaziz Al Saud and His Royal Highness Prince Mohammed bin Salman bin Abdulaziz Al Saud, Crown Prince and Prime Minister, for the unwavering support given to healthcare in the Kingdom, which has driven national achievements that enhance citizens' health and quality of life. This comes following the Cabinet's commendation of the national efforts that secured Saudi Arabia's regional leadership with 21 Healthy Cities accredited by the World Health Organization
(WHO).
H.E. AlJalajel emphasized that this leadership reflects a major shift in the Kingdom's health concept—moving beyond medical care to positioning human health as a developmental priority that integrates policies, urban planning, environment, and education. This embeds the "Health in All Policies" approach, making quality of life central to development and decision-making.
"We take pride in leading the region with 21 WHO-accredited Healthy Cities. This achievement reflects institutional maturity, intersectoral integration, and community engagement, turning international standards into real benefits for human health and environment," H.E. AlJalajel stated.
He noted that the accredited cities met 80 international standards across 9 domains, including community empowerment, intersectoral partnership, healthcare services, urban environment, education, quality of life, and emergency preparedness.
He also highlighted the role of the "Healthy Cities" program in establishing health as a shared responsibility across all sectors. He affirmed that the Kingdom continues to expand the impact of this model and share its expertise globally to advance sustainable development and support
