Health Minister Meets Portuguese Officials to Strengthen Health Cooperation

 Minister of Health, H.E.Fahad Abdulrahman AlJalajel met during h​is official visit to the Portuguese Republic with H.E. the Advisor to the President of the Portuguese Republic, former Minister of Health and Supervisor of the development of the Strategic Health Charter, Professor Adalberto Campos Fernandes.

The two sides discussed the experiences of both countries in health transformation, strategic frameworks for developing health systems, population health and prevention, as well as the exchange of expertise in several areas of mutual interest.

The Minister also met with Portuguese Minister for State Reform Affairs Gonçalo Matias. The two sides discussed opportunities to strengthen cooperation and exchange expertise in institutional transformation and performance efficiency in the health sector, artificial intelligence, digital transformation, and innovation. They also reviewed Saudi Arabia's experience in health transformation and the progress it has achieved, strengthening the Kingdom's presence and role in shaping the future of health globally.

The two meetings were attended by Ambassador of the Custodian of the Two Holy Mosques to the Portuguese Republic Ali bin Abdulrahman AlYousef.

He also visited Santa Maria University Hospital and the Gulbenkian Institute for Molecular Medicine, where he reviewed key practices and experiences in healthcare, medical and molecular research, and the innovative technologies and solutions employed by both institutions. He also explored areas of cooperation and knowledge exchange in healthcare development and advancing health research and innovation.

The visit comes as part of the Kingdom's ongoing efforts to strengthen health cooperation with the Portuguese Republic, expand partnerships between the two countries in shared health priorities, exchange leading expertise and experiences, and explore opportunities to develop high-impact partnerships in healthcare and health innovation. These efforts contribute to advancing health systems and services while enhancing their efficiency and sustainability.
