The Ministry of Health’s Live Well awareness platform has launched a Smoking Cessation Guide as part of its “Breathe Well” awareness campaign to support people who want to quit smoking and help them adopt healthier, long-term habits. The initiative reflects the platform’s ongoing efforts to promote preventive health, encourage healthy lifestyles, enhance quality of life, and support the goals of the Health Sector Transformation Program under
Saudi Vision 2030.
The platform explained that the guide provides comprehensive educational content to support individuals throughout their quitting journey, from preparing to make the decision to quit, to understanding common challenges and managing smoking triggers, as well as offering practical tips to improve the chances of successfully quitting and remaining smoke-free.
The platform also highlighted that recovery begins from the first moments after quitting, as the body gradually restores its normal functions. Heart rate improves within the first 20 minutes, nicotine is eliminated from the body within 24 hours, coughing and shortness of breath begin to improve after 30 days, and exposure to secondhand smoke at home ends within 24 hours, creating a cleaner and healthier environment.
The platform encouraged the public to benefit from Smoking Cessation Clinics by booking an appointment through the
Sehhaty app to access medical consultations and evidence-based treatment programs. It also invited the public to explore the
Smoking Cessation Guide and benefit from its practical recommendations to support a smoke-free lifestyle.
