From the very first moments of quitting smoking, the journey to recovery begins, with the body emerging as the greatest ally along the way. It gradually starts restoring its natural functions within minutes of quitting. In this context, the Ministry of Health’s Live Well platform highlights this recovery journey, empowering smokers to turn awareness of the harms of smoking into a practical step toward quitting and embracing a healthier, higher-quality life. This aligns with the objectives of the Health Sector Transformation Program under
Saudi Vision 2030 to build a vibrant society where people enjoy sustainable health and well-being.
As part of its awareness campaign, “Breathe Well,” the platform emphasized that recovery begins from the very first moments after quitting smoking. Heart rate starts improving within the first 20 minutes, the body becomes nicotine-free within the first 24 hours, coughing and shortness of breath begin to improve after 30 days, and exposure to secondhand smoke at home ends within 24 hours, making indoor air cleaner and healthier.
The Live Well platform also encouraged the public to benefit from smoking cessation clinics by booking an appointment through the
Sehhaty app. The clinics provide comprehensive smoking cessation services, including consultations, behavioral support, and treatment based on best health practices. The platform reaffirmed its commitment to promoting health awareness, improving public health, empowering individuals to adopt healthier lifestyles, and fostering sustainable healthy environments.
