Based on the assessment submitted by the Kingdom’s competent health authorities regarding the Ebola virus situation, and as part of the precautionary measures in place since July 2019, which were further strengthened in May 2026 for travelers arriving from countries neighboring outbreak areas and at points of entry, the Kingdom of Saudi Arabia has introduced additional precautionary measures to reduce the epidemiological risks associated with the Ebola outbreak.
The measures include suspending travel by Saudi citizens to the Democratic Republic of the Congo, Uganda, and South Sudan, suspending the issuance of all types of visas, and suspending entry into the Kingdom for travelers arriving from these countries, including those transiting through other countries who have stayed in any of the three countries within the previous 21 days before arriving in Saudi Arabia.
The Kingdom affirmed that its health surveillance and risk response system continues to operate proactively and continuously, in coordination with relevant national and international authorities, to protect the health of citizens, residents, and visitors, while contributing to global health security.
Saudi Arabia had previously strengthened precautionary measures for travelers arriving from countries neighboring the affected areas, namely Rwanda, Burundi, Tanzania, and the Republic of the Congo (Brazzaville), by enhancing screening procedures at points of entry, health surveillance, and early response mechanisms.
The Public Health Authority
(Weqaya) reassured citizens, residents, and visitors that the public health situation remains stable and is being closely monitored. It confirmed that no confirmed or suspected Ebola cases have been recorded in the Kingdom since the implementation of these precautionary measures, emphasizing that the latest actions are preventive measures taken as part of ongoing efforts to protect public health and prevent disease transmission.
Weqaya also confirmed that it continues to monitor regional and international epidemiological developments around the clock, in full coordination with relevant authorities inside and outside the Kingdom. The Authority will continue to issue recommendations based on developments in the epidemiological situation and implement all necessary public health measures to strengthen preventive preparedness and safeguard the health and safety of everyone.
