The Ministry of Health (MoH) announced the suspension of the professional licenses of two physicians after identifying a promotional video in which they used their professional status and family relationship to gain public trust while promoting the injection of an exosome product as a safe procedure.
MoH explained that the video showed one physician receiving the injection from his brother as evidence of the product’s quality and safety, relying on public trust in healthcare professionals and their family relationship instead of scientific evidence and regulatory approval.
The Ministry emphasized that the safety and quality of healthcare products cannot be established through personal experience or trust alone, but must be supported by scientific evidence, manufacturing and quality standards, product classification, and approval by the relevant regulatory authorities for the intended use.
MoH further clarified that the product used is labeled for external use only, and that administering it by injection is inconsistent with its approved instructions. The Ministry stressed that authorization for external use does not permit injection or justify promoting the product as safe for that purpose.
The violations included exploiting professional status for marketing purposes, making unsubstantiated claims regarding the product’s quality and safety, using the product contrary to its approved instructions, and publishing promotional medical content that could mislead beneficiaries.
The Ministry noted that these practices violate the Health Professions Practice Law, which prohibits the use of scientifically unrecognized treatment methods and requires healthcare practitioners to avoid sensational commercial advertising that lacks a scientific basis, while maintaining professional accuracy and responsibility in published content.
MoH confirmed that the suspension decisions were issued to protect patient safety pending the completion of legal procedures. It stressed that professional status is a responsibility that must not be used to influence public decisions or promote products or medical procedures without reliable scientific evidence and regulatory approval. The Ministry also urged the public to report healthcare violations through the 937 Call Center.
