The Ministry of Health announced the successful completion of its operations during the 1447H Hajj season, which demonstrated Saudi Arabia’s global leadership in mass gathering medicine. No disease outbreaks or public health threats were recorded among pilgrims, praise be to Allah. Since the start of the Hajj season through the twelfth day of Dhul Hijjah, the healthcare system delivered more than 2.5 million healthcare services through an integrated model combining operational excellence, institutional coordination, and advanced technologies to provide high-quality, innovative healthcare for pilgrims.
According to the Ministry, 114,889 beneficiaries received services from primary healthcare centers and urgent care facilities, while emergency departments treated 58,462 cases. Outpatient clinics served 29,846 beneficiaries, and 8,342 patients were admitted to hospitals. Healthcare teams also performed 410 surgical procedures, including 323 cardiac catheterization procedures and 33 open-heart surgeries, reflecting the Kingdom’s advanced medical preparedness for serving pilgrims.
The healthcare system also strengthened its preventive, awareness, and treatment efforts by providing more than 292,585 preventive services and handling over 1,001,468 calls through the 937 Unified Call Center, which offered healthcare and medical consultation services in seven languages around the clock.
This year’s Hajj also featured the deployment of advanced healthcare technologies, including drones for rapid delivery of medicines and medical supplies, expanded telemedicine services and digital systems to support field medical teams and accelerate clinical decision-making through the
Seha Virtual Hospital, robotic-assisted surgical procedures, and smart watches for remote monitoring of pilgrims’ vital signs when clinically required. These innovations reflect the healthcare system’s commitment to continuously improving the pilgrim experience through cutting-edge medical solutions.
