Health Holding Company and its affiliated health clusters implemented the second edition of the Healthy Hajj Initiative during the 1447H Hajj season, serving more than 134,329 domestic pilgrims through an integrated package of healthcare and awareness services, in partnership with the Arab National Bank (ANB).
The initiative is part of national efforts to enhance the quality of healthcare services and improve pilgrims’ access to care, in line with the Saudi Model of Care and the objectives of the Health Sector Transformation Program, one of the programs of
Saudi Vision 2030.
The initiative conducted 120,736 laboratory tests and identified more than 16,994 health conditions, including diabetes, hypertension, and other chronic diseases.
As part of the initiative, smart glucose monitoring sensors were provided to pilgrims with high-risk diabetes, enabling continuous remote monitoring around the clock. More than 3,036 pilgrims across five regions were reached to install the sensors, allowing Saudi physicians at Health Holding’s Diabetes Command and Control Center to remotely monitor blood glucose readings and support pilgrims throughout their Hajj journey.
The initiative also extended its services to the holy sites, where the Makkah Health Cluster installed glucose sensors for previously diagnosed high-risk diabetic pilgrims requiring close monitoring to help them perform their rituals safely.
In addition, the initiative provided more than 18,359 medications and medical prescriptions, distributed 8,324 diabetes emergency kits, and delivered field visits offering health consultations and basic medical examinations.
The Makkah Health Cluster also followed up with pilgrims diagnosed with medical conditions during the campaign, visited them in the holy sites, provided necessary medical care and medications, and connected them with primary healthcare centers in their home cities through family physicians across the Kingdom’s 20 health clusters, in accordance with the Saudi Model of Care.
During its first edition last year, the Healthy Hajj Initiative served more than 123,000 pilgrims, conducted over 290,000 health screenings, and identified nearly 11,000 newly diagnosed chronic disease cases.
This year, the initiative began engaging domestic pilgrims in their home cities before they traveled to Makkah by providing preventive health screenings, essential vaccinations, access to medications and medical devices, comprehensive health awareness programs, and field visits at their accommodation in Makkah and the holy sites.
