Saudi Physician Honored with Global Woman in Healthcare Award
29 January 2026

As part of Saudi Arabia’s ongoing commitment to empowering national talent and amplifying the global impact of Saudi expertise, Dr. Budour bint Shabab Nawar AlMutairi has been awarded the prestigious “Global Woman in Healthcare” Award by the Royal College of Physicians in the United Kingdom. Announced last September, the award marks a historic milestone, as Dr. AlMutairi becomes the first Saudi and Arab woman to receive this international recognition, in appreciation of her leadership in advancing preventive healthcare programs and her extensive global engagement.

The “Global Woman in Healthcare” Award is an annual distinction presented to outstanding women in the healthcare sector whose work has made a measurable international impact. Dr. AlMutairi was honored for her pivotal role in designing and implementing international preventive health initiatives, developed through collaboration between the University of Glasgow and the MoH and Ministry of Education in Saudi Arabia, in addition to her notable volunteer efforts and academic research contributions.
This global achievement coincides with Dr. AlMutairi receiving the “Ideal Mother” Award across Scotland, becoming the first Saudi and Arab woman to attain this title. The honor was conferred during an official ceremony organized by the Scottish Government to recognize exemplary figures in parenting, social contribution, and community service.
Dr. AlMutairi currently serves as a physician and PhD researcher, sponsored by the MoH in the field of health policy. She specializes in dentistry and community oral health and is the founder of TOPS, the Kingdom’s first national research project dedicated to preventing tooth decay among kindergarten children in Riyadh.
This international recognition underscores the strong support and empowerment extended to Saudi national talent and reflects the MoH’s strategic efforts within the Health Transformation Program under Saudi Vision 2030 to invest in human capital, advance healthcare excellence, and further solidify the Kingdom’s regional and global standing.
